HFRR (High Frequency Reciprocating Rig)
/ Software
HFRSOFT
Overview
HFRPC software is designed for the user who is primarily interested in diesel fuel lubricity testing. This application allows the user to control the instrument from the PC, specifying which test procedure to run and starting and stopping the test.
The application logs all of the test data and saves the completed test along with the measured wear scar diameter for future reference. Test data can be printed-out using a standard printer attached to the PC.

Benefits
- Graphical display of test data.
- Storage/retrieval of test results.
- Allows storage of wear scar data with test data.
- Computation of Mean Wear Scar Diameter (MWSD) and WS1.4.
- Calibration history and restore to 'Known good' calibrations
Features
Pre-defined test procedures
Test Type
CEC F-06-A-96
ISO 121516-1
ASTM D6079 (25°C) & (60°C)
GASOLINE
Description
Measurement of Diesel Fuel Lubricity
Diesel fuel - Assessment of lubricity using the high-frequency
reciprocating rig (HFRR)
Standard Test Method for Evaluating Lubricity of Diesel Fuels
by the High-Frequency
Reciprocating Rig (HFRR)
Test procedure at 25°C suitable for testing gasoline
In addition to the standard procedures, a user-defined test procedure is available, where the duration, temperature, stroke length, load and film sensor range can be varied. Combinations of stroke length and frequency, which are outside the instrument's operating envelope cannot be selected.

Temperature/Humidity Probe automatic logging
The HFRR can automatically read the ambient temperature and relative humidity automatically using a temperature/humidity probe supplied separately or with an HFRR humidity controlled cabinet. This saves the operator from having to manually record and enter the data when calculating the humidity corrected wear scar diameter (WS1.4).
The temperature/humidity probe data logging function can be switched on or off from the software.

Viewing existing data
Existing test data files can be viewed and edited simply by selecting the load test button from the main menu.
Top section of screen (above the graph) displaying test data
The only values that can be edited on this screen are the comments and the wear scar information. The average wear scar and WS1.4 information can be automatically calculated simply by entering the two wear scar figures (X and Y) in the dialog box.

Printing Tests
Test data can be printed when saved onto the system. This function can be accessed on completion of a test or in the load test screen.
Exporting and importing test data
Existing data files can be exported by the 'EXPORT TEST...' button.
A 'Save AS' dialog will appear and the default filename will be the unique test ID (UID), which is made up from the HFRR serial number and the date/time the test was started. The file is saved as a tab delimited text file which can easily be imported into most spreadsheet programs for further analysis.
Test data can also be imported into Excel after the export procedure is completed from HFRPC.
Microscope Wear Scar Measurement Camera (Optional Plug-in)
The microscope camera is an optional accessory for HFRPC which allows the user to capture calibrated images of a wear scar and measure the wear scar on the PC screen.

Communication
The program communicates with the electronics unit via a 9 way serial cable (supplied). The communication is a two-way protocol, allowing the user to run a test from the PC, without the need to use the electronics unit keypad.
Control unit - PC Connection
PC communication with the instrument is displayed in HFRPC software by a status bar indicating 'ONLINE'.
Recommended Specification
The software has been designed to run on Windows XP platform. Any current entry level PC will be sufficient. Please note that a serial port is required to communicate with the HFRR.
