Checking and understanding the firmware and software version
This section describes the difference about firmware and software and how to check the current version on the HFRR. Please select below for the relevant information:
Firmware Interpretation
There are two versions of the firmware on the HFRR control unit. These are stored on the flash memory chip on the PCB. The two types of firmware are called HFRR remote and HFRR standalone. Only one firmware is used when controlling the HFR and this is dependent on the user either using the HFRPC/AutoHFR software (HFRR remote firmware activated) or the HFRR control panel (HFRR standalone firmware activated).
The firmware files have a .hex extension and will typically be named:
- HFRR_Remote_firmware_v2.10.hex, or
- HFRR_Standalone_firmware_v2.10.hex” or similar depending on version.
Older versions may have a different naming structure as shown above.
Checking the Firmware version for Standalone Users (HFRR control panel operation)
Standalone users can check by pressing the INFO button located on the main menu of the HFRR control unit. The firmware version below relates to the HFRR Standalone version.

Checking the Firmware version for Remote Users (Software operation such as HFRPC or AutoHFR)
To check if you have the latest version release of 'Remote firmware', go to the ABOUT section of the HFRPC or AutoHFR program. The firmware version will be displayed under the software version as shown below. If your software version does not display this information you will need to use the HFRR firmware updater.

Software Interpretation
The HFRR software consists of either HFRPC or AutoHFR. These applications require only HFRR Remote firmware to operate.
Checking the software version
To check if you have the latest version release of software, go to the ABOUT section of the HFRPC or AutoHFR program. The firmware version will be displayed under the software version as shown below.
