Below is a breif description of the procedure to run an MPR test.
The micropitting rig uses three test rings and one central roller. The test specimens can have different geometry, depending on the test performed. The test specimens are shown below.
MPR test specimens- 3 rings and 1 roller
The test specimens need to be assembled to attach to the micropitting rig chamber using the following components:
- DISC SECURING NUTS (3)
- TORX BUSH (3)
- TORX INSERTS 6 PLAIN, 3 SLOTTED
- SEAL SPACERS (3)
- DAMPER RINGS (3)
Each disc securing nut requires three Torx inserts, two plain and one slotted.

The three test rings and ring securing nut assemblies are then attached to the three disc drive shafts.

The temperature probe is then inserted and door to the test chamber closed. Test oil is injected until it reaches the level of the door circular cut out (approximately 150ml). The system is now ready for testing.
